BIRDS - VERTICALS

"Lament not what you never achieved,

but what was never risked for its attainment"

(Lopez-Espina, 2011)

Frequently when lecturing, a recurring question pops up about the flash I use and how powerful it is. Those who know me well realize I don’t use flash except for doing macro work. I much prefer taking advantage of beautiful natural light. However, what most people want to find out above all, is how do I get so close to my subjects, especially birds. The answer is always the same: 'extreme patience and the will to waste lots of time.'

Even now, I'm still bewildered by the number of people who are reluctant to make sacrifices but yet are desperate to improve their craft. There is no magic formula nor easy methods to get impressive results. Life is but a test to unearth humanity’s willingness to accept and tackle the tough challenges.
