SAND PATTERNS - TWO

"Nature's wondrous moments seldom repeat

themselves in front of a waiting crowd"

(Lopez-Espina, 2016)

The most astonishing aspect of these sand designs is their vast diversity. As shown in the images below, some contain a deep three-dimensional profile, others have multiple etched layers, yet many are so surreal, they belong in another planet. Although most patterns remain until high tide, plenty get formed seconds after waves wash ashore. It is always fascinating to watch each part of the design take form. Of course, they also disappear at the blink of an eye, so I have to be on alert and ready to shoot.

I would be remiss not to mention the concentration required to find fresh interesting designs. Many years back, I adopted a system of walking tight zig-zags throughout the entire width of the shore looking for patterns. I repeat this process until the light becomes too harsh to continue photographing. It's funny to observe the face of any fisherman that may be watching, no doubt he thinks I’m nuts. Hope you enjoy my humble efforts and never take the ground you trek on for granted.
